I recently joined a few days ago, but have been gaming too much and procrastinating when I should be studying :) aside from visiting this site.

I was diagnosed as an Aspie when I was 12. I didn't really know what was happening and only later did I find out what Aspergers was. A year later, I had deemed with Tourettes and an unspecified tic disorder or "something in between" because my vocal tics act up much more infrequently opposed to my motor tics.

What is it like for anyone else out there who knows this kind of stuff? What does it feel like for you or how do you cope with it?

This is an important and perhaps a bit rhetorical question: How do they know the difference between Tics, Tourettes, and stimming?
How can one be decidedly Dx'd with co-morbid Tourettes if they're on the spectrum, and may just be stimming?

Indeed, I've also have a tic disorder of some kind. Mine are involuntary but also accompany those with a feeling of goosebumps on the one side, made worse with stress or some form of sensory stimulation. Made stronger if I have a migraine or feel fatigued with it. Can get more frequent with things like colder temperatures.

Mine is not a stimm as it is uncontrollable. I am seeking neurological diagnosis, as it could be some form of seizure or something else unrelated but connect to my Aspergers.

I was diagnosed when I was very young so I don't even know. Would stimming be treatable with medication. Seroquel seems to control my tics and when I stay up late without taking it I can feel the medication starting to wear off.

The only thing is that they're not completely involuntary. I might feel like my knee is going to bend the wrong way and my leg is going to pop off if I don't bend it the right way so I bend it. I might get weird feelings in my hands, shoulders, or throat, and these will pressure me to move a certain way. I might bend my knuckles, clear my throat or shrug my shoulders.

If stimming behaviours can't be reduced/controlled with Seroquel then it's not stimming.

I sometimes wonder if it's OCD related because of the fact that I feel like my joints are going to bend the wrong way if I don't bend them the right way. It's like my Tics are really an attempt to prevent something bad from happening which is always my joints popping off. I know they won't but the feeling is so overwhelming that I have to do it. I know Seroquel can be used as an augmentation agent with an SRI to help treat OCD. I'm on Clomipramine for it.

I was diagnosed when I was very young and I don't know how it was differentiated. Based on the fact that Seroquel provides relief I don't think it's stimming. I'm a little confused about the difference between my OCD and Tourette's. I'm diagnosed with both so it's confusing.

People have said it looks like it hurts more when I do my tics. My stimming is usually me flapping my hands in front of my face, rocking, or banging my head into a wall when I'm really upset. When I blink or jerk my neck, I think its evident that I can't help it. Sometimes I wince or smile a little because sometimes it feels really good or it really hurts.

I didn't even know there was a specific tic dissorder, I always assumed tics were part of Tourette. Interesting.
