I started doing this thing of late where I rub the tips of my fingers against one another and it's just so amazingly soothing to me.

I work in a big warehouse and betwwen the power equipment, loud squeeky carts, customers, employees etc it gets a little overwhelming at times from a noise standpoint. It's hands down the loudest place I've ever worked.

This new found stim of mine nearly puts me in a zen like state and brings on incredible relaxation and allows me to escape a bit mentally.

It's also low key enough that it doesn't bring too much attention to myself.

Do your favorite stims relax you in such a way?

I'm glad you found a way to beat the overwhelming sensory input from a warehouse. Feeling Zen in a warehouse is amazing, I find.

Hi JennaNicole, Welcome to WP,
I have a stuffed Life is Good dog that has a similar affect on me. When I touch it it's like a cooling sensation down my whole body and it really relaxes me.

I've done the exact same thing since I was little and I still do now.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who does this :)

Thanks for the replies and the welcome skibum.

It's like sheer magic when I do this with my fingers.

I rub the fingers of both hands when they are interlocked and it does the same thing.

The decibel level where I work is such that everyone should have hearing protection.

I can't listen to music while working, it would be too distracting. But maybe you can check out noise-cancelling headphones if that is acceptable to your place of employment.
