I know this happens with NT's too but I'm quite obsessive on it. Does anyone on here wish they could go back to a certain time period and live again? Like they would hear maybe a certain song and go " wanna live through that period again", and as that era drifts further away you want it more and more, and to the point you actually hate getting older. Does anyone else feel like this? I would like to go back to 2007-2009 again, how about you?

I think it's pretty common to feel that way about late teens. Especially if they were good times. What is the significance of those years for you?

Easy school life (first 2 years in High School), no dramas or complications, the music, being able to have fun with friends without having to worry about Girlfriends, Drugs or alchohol. Simple stuff like that.

That applies to NT's, not to aspies.

Aspies dont have friends nor good times in highschool. Because theyre aspies. There is nothing to be nostalgic about.

I feel nostalgic all the time - I like watching stuff from when I was a kid, listening to music from childhood....back when I had no idea how different I was, my parents were still together, and I didn't feel horrible about myself. Just when I felt completely safe.

It was Christmas, 1965 ... dad was sober ... mom was happy ... everyone important to me was still alive ... lots of hugs to go around ... laughter, smiles, music, food ...

I don't remember what my presents were, I just wish I could go back.

Yes, nostalgia is a big part of my life nowadays. But I wouldn't want to re-live the same, because I know that at the time I wasn't blissed out. What I wish is I could go back to those scenes being who I am today.

I'd like to travel to the years 1964 to 1966. I'd still be dressing the way the Kinks did during the Mod days, being that I'd rather present as male than female.

I'm always longing for a period of life. I'm always Nostalgic. I want to go back to the Summer of 2009 and around that time so badly. I'm not sure if it's an aspie or autistic thing, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who experiences this... :o

Hi, I lived those years although tried to be a bit different than the stereotypical mod, but the mid sixties are definately my nostalgia years.

1964 to 66 for me as well, maybe it really was better then?
Some trains still had steam coming out of them,
Every car looked different from each other.
The sky was blue then without lines across it.
Sweet shops had jars with really tasty sweets that didnt have chemicals.
People where nice then.
Nature hadnt been half eradicated.
My Motorcycle was built in 1966

One of my major personal obsessions is pop music. My iPod is stuffed with every song that ever got terrestrial radio airplay from the advent of commercial radio in the 1910s, through the end of 2012, arranged by Year and Month of release/peak chart activity and tagged with its highest chart position (if any). Also included are audio files of famous events, National Commercials, PSAs and speeches as reported by broadcast News. My playlists are time machines that can take you back to any point in the past century by immersing you in the music and major events of the day. 8O

I often think I'd love to be able to pop from one time period to another, just to walk through daily life and see it as it actually was. :chin:

Then I realize that personal deodorant has only been around since the 1940s, so it might not be as much fun as all that. :eew:

As for reliving moments from my own life...there are a few that I would revisit, even knowing how much they were going to hurt. I remember that they only hurt so bad, because I had so far to fall. It would be worth reliving the pain to be that happy again, even for a little while.

My early childhood was pretty good and I have plenty of warm and fuzzy memories. Even though no one knew about Asperger's back then, I was allowed to be myself in spite of my unusual behavior because I was "intelligent and talented" for my age. Then you turn into a teenager and suddenly everything goes down the toilet and leaves you bitter, cynical, and jaded towards everyone and everything. :x

I think that nostalgia is a really interesting idea. I often times look for music that gives me a lot of feelings / thoughts, and nostalgia is something I enjoy in songs. In my opinion, a song can make a person feel nostalgic just by the atmosphere of the song itself and not the fact that you knew it when you were little or had a memory associated with it. Besides music, the video games Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (two really awesome Zelda games) and Final Fantasy X make me nostalgic. Starfox 64 also makes me nostalgic. I've loved that game since I was small. I love futuristic things, though, and for some reason futuristic things make me nostalgic. It's just a feeling.

I'll take 1995, music was better, TV was better, wheather appeared better, kids were still allowed to go outside and do stuff alone, people thought I was gifted and not werid, computers were invented, affordable if you saved up and did not crash like they do now.

I still listen to early 1990's music and play/collect with late 1980's-early 90's toys. The 90's were the last good decade to grow up in I think, perhaps the 50's-80's were better however the 2000's was when things really went downhill in my opinion, the kids these days have no idea.
