I don't agree with the decision to close my thread http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php? ... highlight=
This is an international message board so I should be allowed to speak in any language I want, including Russian.

And by the way the song about village Klyntsi is pretty cool, don't you think? http://www.klintsy.ru/music/klintsy2.mp3

The usual way this works on most message boards I frequent is that you mail the admins and take it from there. There's no context to it, is in a foreign language and comes across as meaningless to those who don't a) have Russian characters installed on their computer and b) speak Russian. Couldn't it be moved to the international board as a compromise or something?

As long as the song didn't have offensive lyrics, I think it should have stayed.

Well how about all the english posts. For all the people living in non-english speaking parts of the world, English posts come across as meaningless not to say that some people might not have english characters installed in their computer.

No it doesn't have any offensive lyrics. It is about a village named Klyntsi being their homeland and stuff.

This is an English-language bulletin board (with the exception of the international area). I wouldn't go on a bulletin board where all the posts were in a foreign language and start posting in English as it would be considered rude.

There shouldn't be a problem with having this song on the thread.

What I learned is that if I do it using PC then it works but if I do it using mac then I get these question marks. I don't have my own computer I am using comptuers in school and they have plenty of both. So first I posted it using mac and got question marks. Then I went to PC and editted it to get Russian letters, AND IT WORKED. But then after mod closed it, it got back to question marks. I guess mod chose to un-edit it for some reason.

Anyway, now I am in PC so hopefully it will work. Here it goes:

@ OP:

1) The website and it's admin are based in the USA.
2) The majority of people here are in English-speaking countries. It's an English-language board as Tequila stated.
3) English is not only the defacto international language of commerce, it is the standard language of computing and the Internet. If people don't know English, they do themselves a big favour by learning it.
4) You appear to speak perfect English, so what's the problem?
5) We don't want to see a bunch of question marks all over our screens, which is what many saw.
6) The above facts are unlikely to change anytime soon.

I second Tequila's idea about it being moved to International area.

Yeah, an English translation would have been a logical thing to include especially as the OP speaks perfect English.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was actually in context and there was an English translation to go with it. Otherwise, what's the point for the people who can't read Russian?
