Hello all,

I haven't been on for a few months and am assuming surely our great advancement in science and technology has by now cured ASD, or at least the social anxiety/ difficulty communicating aspects.

Please let me know what the cure is and where to get it as I can't wait any longer.

Thanks :)

I'd rather be my own person than be cured of my unique view of the world.

After giving a lot of thought about my situation in life, basically, its crap.
What good is amazing if I can't share it with anyone.
Never had a girlfriend, never been married, never had sex.
I'd happily trade it to have the above.
But... if I could keep my wacky random thoughts, AND be CURED of social anxiety, then that would be the best.

Stop focusing on what you have not done and think you cannot do. You know that urge to correct or the fight in you when you know you are right? Maybe that feeling when someone talks about your special interest? Harness a feeling, an urge, an assertion, or what have you and force yourself to cross off items on your list of "have not dones". Make doing these things your special interest, and hone in on them until your list is nothing but scratch throughs.

Only YOU can change life for yourself, and once you do, the power to assist others will be apart of you.

Don't have a "scarcity" mindset. This means you focus on what you don't have. You need to have an "abundance" mindset, especially being autistic, because you need to think about what you have to offer to the world and how awesome you are.

Don't let anyone tell you you can't do anything, even if that person is yourself.

The good news is that social anxiety is one of the more treatable aspects of AS. What tends to work is finding a way to experience some success in social interactions. Have you looked into whether there are any AS social groups in your area? Or else groups focused on one of your interests? Those are often good 'safe places' for an AS person to overcome their fear and learn social skills.

i believe there is no cure but i dont think i would take it anyway because i dont care if i dont conform or whatever. i dont feel like i am in a bubble looking out. i feel like im happy and safe in the bubble, and only my husband is able to share it with me because he understands and accept me more than anyone else including my own mum.

but not all people on the spectrum are like that, wanting a cure is to do with how badly having aspergers affects you.

I've never had a boyfriend, been married or had sex either, and I'm 38 but I'm not complaining. I'd rather live the life of a man, anyways. I still don't wish to be cured. Why be normal, when I can be Kinky?

sort out having a decent quality of life by working on the issues have got and building coping strategies, not dream for cures that are impossible in our lifetime.

autists who complain but dont work on their impairing issues wont get anywhere,am speaking as someone who had that attitude due to having a very low quality of life as a result of severe autism and learning disability, how ever it wasnt the disabilities that caused it, it was a decade of sht treatment from the institution and residential homes of a particular learning disability service,in many cases it was worse than the winterbourne scandal but got covered over thanks to the staff backing each other up, and all of us having our autism and LD used against our ability to understand.
have been in a specialist service for the past four years that deals with severe and profound autism and have changed outlook completely thanks it being a completely different world,am accessing many different types of therapy and accessing medication and equipment shoud have been given years ago.

people need to work on themselves and not expexct some miracle to come.

It is something that you are born with. It's not something you can just take a Pill for. It's Hard-Wired into the brain. Maybe, just Maybe some social "Training" may be possible or Therapy to an extent. Your mileage may vary though.

You might be onto something. Perhaps only I can change myself and not someone else. I should stop looking to someone ELSE finding a cure and just look for one myself. Good thinking Idle :)
