I'm now pretty much convinced that 90% of my mood, social, and functioning problems are due to:

1. Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder (DSPD) possibly on a greater than 24 hour cycle

2. Possibly another sleep disorder; and

3. Very clearly Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder which I have now documented for 4 years at least.

I think many psychiatric look-alikes have resulted from these, and I have been prescribed medications and therapy that didn't work. This is why.

I want to see a medical professional about my new theory to see if im curable. But I'm not sure what type. It would have to be covered by insurance. So what should I do? I need to look into this before reconsidering if stem cells for my autism/NLD are still necessary.

Well, it won't cure autism, but if you can get your sleep problems under control I bet you'll be able to cope about ten times better. I have pretty much the same combination, except that my SAD tendencies are the normal winter-blues type, and believe me, it really does help to address those problems.

You might not need to do a lot to deal with the delayed sleep phase problem. The trick there is to constantly reset your sleep clock, possibly by use of melatonin or a mild sleep aid, so that you keep it steady at a 24-hour cycle. Problem is, of course, that if you're autistic you get stuck on one thing and it's hard to get away from it and go to sleep. They kind of feed into each other. But there are solutions. My computer automatically turns itself off at 1 a.m. for example.
