The Movie "in the Space there are no feelings" (i rymden finns inga känslor). The boy With asperger syndrome, do you think that this is a good Movie to desicribe AS/does this Movie show how life is for AS/is this how you feel With AS?

To me, personally I dont tink my AS is THAT much visible. And I dont run and hide inside a "Box" or something when Things dont og as plan.. maybe I did when i was younger tought. But then I mean when I was like 10 and younger.

Now it was quite some time since I saw this movie, and I remember not liking it.

The kids was nothing like me as a start. But most of his problems I think was not related to AS but would come from how he had been treated. And that wasn't explained.

My opinion is that the movie shows AS as something that is way weirder than reality and feeds stereotypes of us. People watch media like this and think AS is like that.

I haven't seen that, but I believe that "Simple Simon" is the name in english, rather than "In the Space There are no Feelings", which seems to be the literal translation of the original title. Often, titles of things are changed from country to country to avoid miscommunication and to compensate for cultural differences and expectations.

I loved the movie!

Do i think it was realistic? No. I think i was exaggerated, but I feel the heart of it was true. Imentally live in space and I'm always couped up in my room, away from others.

I watched the Swedish version, though, (idk if they dubbed or subbed the English), so I got everything in pure context. Sometimes subs or dubs can lose meaning.

It's also important to keep in mind that Swedes compared to Americans are pretty shy. To begin with there's already that culture, sothe extremity could also be related to the differences in culture. I'll have to ask my Finnish friend how she percieved the movie. Whilst I'm sure i/ exaggerated for the culture too, it can be that American culture is just so different.

Looks like they did call it Simple Simon. Wikipedia says...

Simple Simon (Swedish: I rymden finns inga känslor literally In space there are no feelings) is a 2010 Swedish comedy film...

I'm not sure if it is a cultural thing, but calling the kid simple isn't that nice, is it?

But did anyone not Swedish watch this?

I am from the US and am about half way through it. It is on youtube with subs. I do not believe the boy is a realistic portrayal of Asperger's syndrome and I do not like how he uses Asperger's Syndrome as an excuse to act how he feels like acting. Why isn't he in school, too? He seems really young to not be in any sort of school.

I checked IMDB.com and the first "Simple Simon" I found was listed as "a.k.a. MERCURY RISING." 8O

Thanks for clearing up the confusion...I'll try to find the correct one myself (YouTube has been acting strangely for me lately) and see what I think of it.

I'm not saying it's accurate, but it is Swedish. Their humor is vastly different from Americans.

Also, I am not Swedish. I am American, born, raised, and have no ancestry whatsoever that is Swedish. Swedish and Sweden are just my special interests. I firmly believed I was a Swede born to the wrong country, but now I know it is my autism that makes me better suited to Nordic Europe. Odd enough, though, it was terribly difficult to have my counteneance reflected back at me when I lived in Finland. It's freightening when you can't read American body language, and Finns are reserved a thousand times over what Americans are.

I would not consider seeing anything w/ such a title.

Which is also a movie about someone with autism.
