Remember back in the 1980s when they had that silly "G.I. Joe" cartoon? And then they had that lesson at the end of the day, where the kid would be rebuked on some dangerous or un-streetwise course of action he was about to take? Then after the GI Joe character lectured him and demonstrated "the proper way", the kid would say "Now I know!! And knowing is half the battle."

Well, if that kid were an Aspie like me (in some slightly self-deprecating humour), he would have said:

Now I know!! And knowing is one-quarter of the battle.
The other three-quarters are: knowing when to spontaneously apply the lesson, being able to execute it without thinking too much about contextual elements, and retaining that to use in future similar situations where I will easily and subconsciously remember it, without thinking of it as a brand new situation and starting from scratch.

but then the cartoon would have to be about a half-hour longer to get all of that in. ;)

If the G.I. Joe were the Aspie, he would have told the kid, "Your course of action is illogical. Now let's talk about the art of warcraft. This has been a special interest of mine since shortly after I became sentient...."

The cartoon never ends.
