Acronyms!?

I've noticed that a few people here don't know what certain acronyms used here mean, so I think we should have a collection of acronyms and their meanings. I'll start us off.

AS- Aspergers
OCD- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
ADD/ADHD-Attention Defecit (Hyperactive) Disorder

HFA & LFA- High/Low Functioning Autism ......not sure if that is right?

That's all I can think of. But I know there's a few more I don't understand not listed.
Oh, and can one of the moderators please make this Sticky so future visitors can see it and understand what people are talking about.

NVLD or Neurological Vacative( or vocational?) Learning Disablilities

The categories someone uses when addressing one's IEP.
"Individualized Education Plan" during primary school years
special education(or phasing into mainstream classes).

NT - Neuro Typical - used to designate anyone who's not on the autism spectrum


One thing I've wondered about: is NT an appropriate term to use for those with ADD/ADHD or OCD without autism, because I wonder if their neural systems are truly typical.

You can be amazed how
things found online can
sometimes be misspelled
or misinterpreted.

This is a off-beat diagnostic term:

PDD-NOS:

I have to re-lookup it's full wording,
and it is used for non-descript symptoms,
but no actual presence of the reason for
the symptoms(Autism Spectrum Disorder)-ASD

Pervasive Development Disorder-Not otherwise specified.

It is Nonverbal Learning Disablities
