I haven't had a day like this recently,
but it's certainly happened. One thing
I used to do is write situations out as if
they were a scene in a novel. Helped
make more sense of them. And made
them seem more real than when they
were just running circles in my head.
I hope your work goes better tomorrow.]
Praxis wrote this about my horrible
Saturday.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This is the day's report:
It is now April 2nd, 2005 and I am
called to work on my relaxing
S.F "computer" flea day. I am
placed with a supervisor(her again...)
that is most unpleasant. I hear
here gripe about my slowness,
that she would love to fire me,
and the rest of the staff. I do
my best to stay I-Physical. slowly
customers come, then comes
venomous thought.
One mistake begins another, and
the minutes of failure become
successive bombardment that
my focus on I-Physical couldn't
take all at once. She(Superv')
gripes, customers don't know
how to be consistent and it's
"ALWAYS" my fault gripes sup'
and she says then speed it up.
Venomous thoughts come, I-physical
head lowers, eye's can't be met
until the final blow. I will have....
and when I give her the total
sale she says that total is wrong
and I reverify, sup' is griping, line
is developing. sup' takes over and
head dropping, eye's not focusing,
and sup' griping I would later write
this.
I want to growl, scream, throw
boxes but my focus say's WAIT
AND LET EVENTS TAKE THERE
COURSE. Another round at
the dorm setting front desk
is soon to come and I write
this so venomous thought is
no more.

..........and here is the results:

From a customer.....2004-04-02
"I thought I would try ......... again
after my bad experience in one of
your stores. I went to this store
today, everything went wrong,
he got my order wrong, I asked
for wheat bread and then I got
the opposite, MAYBE HE IS NEW
but there was a woman who
did not help him."
NEW? I have been there 7 months
and my HFA has been a barrier
to greater hours. I use this job
to eat and have money available
even though I have intelligence
and am strong in areas other
than sandwich making.
AS/HFA can be a curse or a blessing,
you decide!
..............................................!
The question is are there any
similiar experiences that you
can relate?
Oh! Thank You Pryaxis for your
comment.....>
Sincerely,
Ghosthunter
sure, I've been sacked a few times and 'let go', on several occasions, I really got to dread that moment when your supervisor comes over all 'nicey nicey' and says somewhat phonily: "Thank you SO much, for all your help" which means, we're letting you go, not renewing your contract etc.
ugh. Are you 'out' about having a disability at work. I admire you a lot for having the guts to get and try to keep a job and think you are not getting any understanding or accomodation at work. Don't people understand that if they don't accommodate us in employment, they just have to support us on welfare? Jeez, what do people want.
Yes and No. The owner and his
wife understand the situation and
do their best to accomadate. This
is why I do mostly administrative
and menial tasks.
The matter was predictable
since it was a "emergency"
day, or 2 people called in sick
on my flea-Saturday.
She knows there's a problem
but the owner and his wife have
kept it quiet.
The owner really prides
his customer base and this
is not the first time I got a
nasty-gram and hours severly
cut. This is what I fear the most.
This is the most interesting bit in the nastygram "but there was a woman who did not help him."
I get wrong orders all the time in shops (and that's from NT service-people), I asked for corned beef and I got roast beef the other day, it happens all the time, you ask for something and get something else. I don't get all worked up about it, unless there's a big difference in price...You're certainly not the only person who ever got an order wrong. It's all part of the industry.
...besides, you were doing them a favour by being there at all, filling in for others on your day off, they probably appreciate that more than they are concerned about a wrong order. Or they SHOULD!

I hope so too. I was half tempted
not to do it, but my good nature is to
help others, if at all possible. This is
a good example of not following my
INTUITION.
In regards to others at work knowing
about my HFA, I told another person that
I spent time observing and quirky as I.
I hope this doesn't backfire, because orignally
was quoted by her "is he on drugs" when
she originally started. I later got to know
her and felt brave to answer her question.
What is it like in Austrailia during spring?
Spring? Well it's Autumn here now, but Spring is nice, like it is everywhere. It depends what part of the country u live in. I moved to a cool/temperate zone a couple of years ago, to get away from the relentless heat in summer, but we get a cool to cold spring here. I'm still adjusting to a cool/rainy climate.
Down here in San Francisco it is either
sunny in the morning, cloudy in the
afternoon, and rainy in the evening.
The next day all sunny and clear.
Then the next, cloudy, windy, rainy.
The weather here is like a asper/HFA
keeping a job(chuckle-I'm not always
good at telling a humourous statement)
oh right, I didn't know that, I had the impression SF was fairly warm and sunny. We have that '4 seasons in one day' weather down here (SW of West Aust) too, you have to wear a t-shirt, carry an overcoat and an umbrella, lol. It's a bit like what I think of as 'european' climate. Lots of cloudy days and a mild summer. There's a local saying here, "Don't like the weather? just wait 15 minutes and it will change."
Is SF as pretty as it looks in movies?
