OK, after a recent incident, I have confirmation that my father is completely spineless against my stepmother. I cannot risk telling him. Phoning the insurance company is the way to go.

If he finds out anyway, I can still say: "I didn't want to hang a lantern on something unofficial."

:( Too bad that you feel like you can't talk to your dad because of this. Good luck with the phone call! And do let us know how it goes?

Thank you, I will do next week. I'm still very afraid and ashamed, but I think I can handle it now.

The best way to keep a secret is to not admit that you have one.

Then again, the best-kept secrets are known to no living being.
