This just happened a few minutes ago, so I feel it only necessary to talk about it here.

My brother, who's not an Aspie, has a really annoying habit: Whenever I'm doing something at a computer---at ANY computer---he occasionally just lets himself into the room or sits down/stands near where I am and just starts talking.

The thing is, he almost always starts talking about the same stuff. This time around, it was how he'd make Pacific Rim 2, which he's gone on about at least 3 times prior.

Now, sometimes I just chat with him and actually pay attention, but when I'm trying to multitask and get things done, and all he's doing is droning on and ON about stuff I have little to no interest in, it's annoying. If I try to say something, he just says "yeah" or something, then launches right back into his lecture. And every time I try to ask/tell him politely to just stop talking, he gets offended and stomps off---in this case, he nearly sat on two CDs I'd burned earlier in the morning.

Like I said, sometimes I'm able to have conversations with him (occasionally for an hour or so), but when he just starts rambling on about stuff, it drives me nuts. Anyone else here ever have this problem?

I don't really have that problem. But maybe you should put some headphones in or something? That way he sees you're listening to music and might not be interested in talking.

Let's see how many people are on the NT's side here (unless he's not an NT either, as you have said he's not Aspie but not all non-Aspies are all NTs).

If that was an Aspie doing exactly what your brother is doing, all the replies would be like ''why are you annoying the NT like that?''

Ohh, double standards!

The girl at work did a similar thing to me this dinner time. I clearly was not interested and was busy typing yet she kept asking me questions. It stopped the flow of what I was doing and I felt irritated and ended up stimming to calm myself down :-(
