I'll try to keep this brief.

As I've previously stated I suspect I may have hypergraphia though I haven't been diagnosed as such. About four years ago I decided to start keeping a journal. It was innocent enough at first. I would write short entries of only a few hundred words per day. As I got used to it the entries got longer. It became less about the events of the day and more about how those events made me feel. It has over a million words but the whole second half was written in the last 11 months.

Last night I stayed up until 6:00AM and wrote 7,000 words. The night before it was 6,000 words. I don't always write that many words in one night but is 7,000 words an excessive amount to write in one night? I'm sure many of you have college degrees so I ask you, how many words did you write per night during the course of your studies? I'm trying to establish a baseline for comparison.

Perhaps writing 7,000 words to describe the events of one day seems like an excessive amount of detail but only about 10% of it was about the events that happened, the other 90% was about how those events made me feel and speculation on the ramifications of those events. I'm not trying to claim my ramblings have any literary or academic value although perhaps one a day a psychology student might like to read it and base his thesis on my descent into madness.

So I ask you. Do I write too much? Has anyone else had similar experiences?
