Just a poem I wrote, enjoy.
Credit me if you use it.

The Not So Human, Human
Being autistic is something some of us would much rather hide
The social rules you already know, we struggle to abide
So often we hear, "we can't see that your different, it must be mild"
Subconsciously after speaking that, they treat us like a mere child

"Oh, shut up about your obsessions!" The neurotypicals eventually say
Seeming to be afraid that we will embarrass them, again today
Didn't you realise, that our brains work on the same level as yours?
Just some parts are harder to switch on, those problems come out in flaws

Go on, be patient, give us extra time to process what you've said
Our brains are on overdrive and often act like we've come out of bed!
We are not the next psychopath in the making, no, don't you worry about that!
Nor are we weird freaks because we simply feel more comfortable in a hat

We don't use the term 'autistic' as an excuse as so many of you choose to believe
And when we browse in a shop, we are not more likely to thieve!
If you treat us gingerly, we will tell you the honest truth
That we are not babies, don't treat me like a younger youth

We may not understand it all, but we generally don't want to make a fuss
You may not notice but we know what is going on, all around of us
We feel we have to pretend to be normal when around those who may tease
But, we'd much rather feel free to be ourselves, if you would accept that please?

Are we the aliens that you fear about, coming from out of space
Do you really think of us, as an entiely different human race
As a not so human, human. Didn't this make a lot of sense?
The energy it takes for us us to socialise in a normal manner, is hugely immense

Sometimes we wish we could be normal because even we need a break
Of all steorotyping that is done, how much more do we have to take?
We can think for ourselves, no need to be scared
All of us on the spectrum have talents that can be shared

Do we feel emotions? Hell yes, of course we all do
We just find it difficult to express them, in the same way as you
And while we sometimes have sensory problems, we won't always explode
Don't tippy toe around us, our brains are not slowed

Now, we come to the very end, of a story that just happens to rhyme
Along with it is a message to let the world know of our struggles and steep climb
We only want more acceptance and to allow us to have our say
We cannot be cured with discipline, we, the 'autistics' are here to stay

Thank you for this poem that explains in detail how an autistic man or woman may process and feel- it was helpful to read.

:D Wow! This is better than anything I've ever written! Bravo!

Edit: Now realizing you are female, I take back my "Bravo" and replace it with the more appropriate: Brava!

Thanks, was fairly easy to write. Hopefully it'll do some good, for someone somewhere.
