Does anyone else have serious, life-long insomnia? I can go two days without sleep and only be a little tired between 10 -11:30 pm, which I can easily ignore for those two days. When I was a kid, I would go six days a week on three hours of sleep a night, sleep 12 hours Sunday night and be good to go for another week. And that was with an incredibly active life.
It's not as bad now, but it is very, very hard for me to go to sleep before three am local time. If I manage to sleep at night (say, midnight to eight am), I wake up incredibly energetic and clean things all day, but mostly I pass out around 4 am, then get up around 11 am (unless I have to go to work or something else that gets me up earlier.)
I've been diagnosed with every kind of insomnia there is: can't get to sleep, can't stay asleep, can't always get to REM sleep, etc. Is this an aspie co-morbid thing or is it just me?

Oh, it isn't just you, lol. My recent schedule has been this: stay awake until 7-8 A.M., sleep until 4-5 P.M., go to sleep at 7-8 A.M.. Just a nonstop cycle. This may have happened because of not doing anything at all for months. I was waking up before with a few hours of sleep each night when I was in college. I got a max of 3-4 hours of sleep every night when I'd go to college the last two years. Now that I've been out and changing my major, I have a horrible schedule. I somehow have to get myself waking up at 12 P.M and getting at least 6-7 hours of sleep. That's my goal, but it's hard to do when I am bored out of my mind most of the time.
I was also taking melatonin. It's helped very much, but I don't want to become dependent on it. Speaking of lack of sleep, it's 6:00 A.M. I'm going to make an attempt to sleep. I'm pretty positive that most of us have sleeping issues. At least for the people I've met.

Aspie co-morbid.
It's very likely caused by Salicylate Acid sensitivity/buildup.
Stop eating/drinking anything with sals & start using epsom salts on your skin (especially foot soaks or an epsom salt lotion on the bottom of your feet - although I use it on my chest/shoulders/back) to absorb the magnesium sulphate in order to detox the sals via urination. It took me several months to do so, but besides getting rid of the insomnia, numerous brain functions improved immensely. This is but a small portion of my treatment regiment.
