I know us Aspies are supposed to have problems remembering things; but, sometimes I will be thinking about the next task I need to do and the thought will fade away as I'm trying to hold on to it. I will have a thought clearly in mind and then It will fade away to nothing in a few a few moments. Does anyone else have this happen?

That sounds like subjective thought blocking. I would recommend bringing it up to the next mental health professional you see, especially if it's something new.

BTW, I can get that, too. I will sometimes be thinking about a subject, then it's like my brain has to take a rest so it starts losing hold of the thought and redirecting my train of thought to something else.

What you mention is on the Examination of Anomalous Self-Experience:

Quote:
1.4 Thought Block (C.1.4)
A subjective blocking of thoughts that can also be experienced
as a sudden emptiness of thoughts, interruption
of thoughts, fading (slipping away) of thoughts or loss
of the thread of thoughts. It can be purely subjective but
also observable as a gap in the patient’s speech.

Unless involved in that Obsessive interest focus, I am very easily distracted and tend to leap from subject to subject in an ADHD free-associative trance. I can begin a task in one room, walk into another room to retrieve a tool, become involved in a second task in that second room and completely forget what I started in the first room.

I'm also very frustrated by active conversations, in which, if I interrupt others while they're speaking, I'm considered rude, but if I don't I will completely forget what I meant to say.

Sometimes I have thoughts that last for a split second, and then I start thinking about what it was I was thinking about.

If I'm not mistaken, I remember mentioning this in another thread.

Sounds like my days too. My thoughts don't fade out as much as....hey....shiny....

I repeat things in my head to stay on track sometimes. I will drive down the road thinking bank..bank..while picturing my turn so I don't miss it.

Yes. More often now that I am older.
