All the time I've watched them I've felt like the only person my age that watches them except for the fact my friend watches them.

I'm just curious do any people on here watch them?

I abhor sitcoms. Totally stupid and unrealistic. I also hate being 'prompted 'to laugh. The last comedy I got into was "Northern Exposure" , what, 20 years ago ??

I like some sitcoms. I'm not sure what you mean by "classic". I think Scrubs is a classic ;)

So is M*A*S*H.

I adore everything by Bill Lawrence (Spin City, Scrubs, Cougar Town).

I prefer sitcoms that don't have a laugh track (eg. Scrubs, CT, Community), because I want to "get" the joke on my own, not have it telescoped.

Agree with WarWraith on the laugh thing. The military ruined my future so no "MASH ' for me. My 60 yr old EX is dating a 42 yr old, so I don't need 'Cougar Town 'in my life. "Scrubs' - don't like hospitals. Who mentioned 'classics'? Reminds me, I liked "Soap" , but that was maybe 30 years ago

FWIW, don't let the name put you off on Cougar Town. It's not about that at all. The show found its feet after the first six episodes. It's basically Scrubs without the hospital and with a lot more wine.

I like sitcoms. Right now the ones I watch are The Big Bang Theory and Everybody Loves Raymond. These are almost always on one channel or another. I also watch animated sitcoms like The Simpsons and Family Guy. I used to watch Friends and Seinfeld . As for classics, I used to watch All in the Family and M.A.S.H but have since lost interest in them. Are those the kind of classics you were talking about, OP?

Also I just remembered that there's one WP member who has an I Love Lucy obsession.

i do like sitcoms, but i find they suit certain of my moods more than others.

one thing i like to save my sitcoms for is when im eating.

ive always enjoyed consuming information when i eat, it started with things like reading the back of the cornflake box and advanced onto reading and watching tv. Tv being obviously the easier thing to do because i dont have to turn pages all the time.

sitcoms are perfect for eating for the way the payload of information (the jokes) comes in short cycles.

If i try to watch something with a little more depth i cant concentrate on the thing im watching and the food enough for me to enjoy either.

things i like are things like

friends
Laverne & Shirley
Cheers
the big bang theory
how i met your mother
blackadder
red dwarf
m.a.s.h.
father ted
open all hours
the young ones
the league of gentlemen
Fawlty towers
