Yep.. im the same. Today in the music studios where I tend to spend 5-6 hours a day working I failed to notice 2 posters dictating that the kitchen was not for student use.I noticed that something had "changed", but only after a minute or so.

On the other hand while outside I am aware of everything from the cracks on the pavement to algal formations on trees the characteristics of the clouds and so on adn so forth.

I also am hyperaware of things like vending machines turning on to the point where i'll jump a little or express visible frustration.

I'm usually quite aware of my surroundings. I notice all kinds of things most people overlook or "tune out".
I have never been able to tune anything out.
It makes it really tough to get anything done. I'm constantly distracted.
