I'm definitely on the spectrum. The doctor didn't do any further tests to determine whether I'm an Aspie or not...definitely HFA, though.
I'm relieved to know I for sure - wasn't really a surprise. Now I can be more of a help to my son. I have no doubt he's an Aspie,

Congratulations on your relief; may this diagnosis bring you and your family peace and understanding. :)

Thank you both!! It's the best Christmas present ever - finally knowing that I have a real problem. I'm not just a weirdo.
I'm sure I'll have my ups and downs, but for the first time ever I feel like I can be myself :):)

Congrats. I sort of got mine for Christmas too, three years ago now. It sounds like you're taking it about the same way I did, too. I'd known something was off for a long time, but it was a great relief to get an explanation that made sense.

I got mine this month too 16 years ago. I never considered it a Christmas present.

I'm determined to make the best of this. I do have a lot of artistic talent - especially in photography.
I'm also glad I got my dx first, so I can be there for my 10 year old when he's evaluated. He's going through some emotional turmoil over the possibility of having AS; he needs me to be strong for him.

Today I feel more at peace with myself than I have in a long time. I can marvel at the beauty of an egg without damning myself for being a weirdo. I don't have to make eye contact with anybody on the street if I don't want to.
I've discovered just how many resources are available to us - especially when it comes to asserting my son's rights in school. I may be able to get some help in training for a job that uses my photographic/artistic talents.
And it just feels good to know we're not alone.
