But why, why, why are you even having kids? Not only will they possibly inherit the AS but the world is not a nice place and can you really deal with the noise, the odors, the conflict of being a parent? I know I couldn't.

Hello again everyone!! I am an NT engaged to an Aspie and we just had our first child together last Wednesday! I love our little man! Our relationship continues to get stronger and I would trade my Aspie for anything! He has been an amazing father so far and a wonderful husband to be! Just know there can be successful NT/Aspie relationships!!

You would trade You're aspie for anything? 0.o

I think the OP meant to say ''I wouldn't trade my Aspie for anything''.

I wouldn't want to have kids myself for the fear of having a child on the spectrum, but congratulations to you both. Don't worry - a social worker I used to have was married to an Aspie, and they had five kids (they were his biological kids), and none of them are Aspies. So don't worry too much about that, just enjoy your little miracle and I hope all the best for you both. :D

I don't think having a child with ASD is the end of the world. Some people do. I don't want it to be.

Ha ha! I meant wouldn't trade him for anything! As for why we would have kids with a risk of them having AS. Well, there is a risk anytime you have children. There are so many things that children can end up having, doesn't mean we should just stop having kids. I will love our son regardless and I think my fiancé is a beautiful soul. There is also a chance that our son will not have AS. It seems it doesn't matter these days where there is a family history of it or not, they can have it either way.
