I wonder if such drugs would have helped me. I'll have to talk about this with my psychiatrist

I am a student of Masters degree in the field of library science. Unfortunately, I can not concentrate on my thesis work, I'm more preoccupied with computer games, reading on the internet about the history, and writing on discussion boards such as Wrongplanet.net :D

I wonder does focus drugs could help my in my academic performance.

What are focus drugs? Do you have adhd? When I wrote my thesis I had a horrible time concentrating. I worked it out by writing it one section at a time, and then taking a long break. I would research a bit and then write maybe 2 paragraphs a day, which isn't much, but over the course of a year it turned into a 30 page paper. After writing I would reward myself with video games or something. Work, reward, work, reward...this is the only way I can finish something.

I do not have ADHD but in childhood i have beent suspected that I have ADHD, that was before I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. I had always been a problem to focus on something that I'm not specially interested, it is computer games, science fiction, movies, and history :D

I wonder whether the focus drugs would helped me at university ?

I took Dexedrine IR for about 3 years up until about 7 months ago. At first it helped out immensely, but in the end they were a part of what was making my symptoms worse. I didn't take them through school, but they probably would have helped a lot if I had. I made it through school without them, though.

I use methylphenidate for ADHD. It does help me enormously. I can focus on my work all day.

The only complaint I would have is that it makes me a bit too sensible sometimes.

But then without it, I do resort to childlike behaviour, and get taken advantage of.

My main (neurological) diagnosis is ADHD and I've been using Adderall for about 10 years.

I find it works much better within a structure. If I don't get myself into a framework, I could just as easily get obsessed with perfecting something that's not a priority. The drug itself doesn't help me; it's the drug applied to a desirable, achievable goal.

I was on Strattera but it made me go crazy in school so my parents took me off it and it ruined me of taking the SATs
