Are all aspies nerdy types in glasses?
Are they all monotone?
Are they all intellectuals with vast knowledge banks on their favourite subjects?
Are they all serious?

What exactly is the Look of Autism anyhow?

I don't know, but I cringe when I hear someone describe a person as "autistic-looking."

I just hate how people just naturally lump us all together into one big stereotype. People with Asperger's come in all shapes, sizes, ages, genders, ethnic backgrounds and so forth. :(

People with Down's Syndrome do have a certain physical look.

Folks with other conditions: autism spectrum, adhd, szchophrenia, tourettes, whatever, do not have any equivalent physical look.

But aspies can have a 'look' in the sense that many (but not all) are fashion victims, and maybe grooming impaired (for example).

I doubt I'll go down well with this post, and probably rightly so, but to me there's a particular look I can associate with most if not all of the aspergic people I've known.

I think to complement the lack of subtle facial expressions people like me make, we don't have very "subtle" faces. It's quite hard to describe, but I find me and the others I've known have rather "blockish" faces, lumpy noses and even skin that appears thicker, as if we were drawn with a wider paintbrush. I feel like not only can I be as refined as other people, I can't look as refined as them either.

That's just my anecdotal observation though. Pretty much what phrenology was based on I'd imagine.

Did you seriously not sleep for 3 days? :-(

(And I thought you were gluten free there missy, what are you doing indulging in non-gluten free BEER every week! Barley's just as bad as wheat as I'm sure you know.)

Don't ask me, I have no idea what autism looks like.
