I enjoy non-social types of danger (snowboarding, skydiving, bungee jumping, etc.)--quite a thrill; but the type of danger described with dark, knives, gangs sounds excruciatingly awful to me with social complexities of intimidation, risk of being followed, etc. I also have profound social anxiety that requires medication to tolerate being around people and any form of eye contact.
Another WP member once posted that some Aspies become counter-phobic to overcome fears that can be mastered as a way to counter the seemingly unconquerable social fear where a "3,2,1 suck it up" mantra doesn't improve social interaction via exposure because the other person can usually sense anxiety which leads to social failure.
