When people talking around me annoys me

When I hear bothersome conversations around me, that distract and irritate me, I notice something about the quality of the speech. The speech is almost like silk, like an irritating caress of my skin, a presumptuous assumption of affection and caring, an intrusion.

How do others experience this sort of thing?
