This is a new one. Just when claims that vaccines are the cause of autism got stale, I find this little gem. Apparently we're a punishment from/being punished by a deity that refuses to tolerate LGBT rights and abortions. Lovely.

There are some strange fanatical and extremely radical people out there that call themselves Christians or God-lovers. Problem I see with that? They promote hatred to others in the name of God (ie, who here remembers the "God Hates Fags" movement?). I've done enough bible study in the last three months to know that the word tells me to love God, to love myself and to love others as I love myself.

Be careful where you get your stories from. Sounds like the source of this article comes from an uber-liberal magazine.

That's the dumbest s*** I've ever heard.
If God is angry with humanity because nowdays there are LGBT rights and women can get abortions, then why did autistics exist in middle ages as well, when LGBT people were tortured and/or burned alive and women couldn't get abortions? Autistics have always existed, there just wasn't a diagnosis back then and people with autism were considered weird/evil/possessed by the devil.
I didn't know I was a punishment for people. Good, now I can go out and bring a whip with me to punish people

It's been covered by other sources too.

If anything, I'd say just the opposite is true. The neurodiversity movement is more forward thinking than the gay rights movement. Also, it's not like we're immune to being gay or bisexual. Hell, it seems like the autism community has a greater than average percentage of objectum sexuals than the general public, and that seems like something way more deviant than homosexuality. (<--And I don't mean that in a bad way. I'm a fan of deviant. ~_^)

Aren't these the same type of people also claim that it's their "God-given right" to possess firearms, own slaves, enforce second-class status for women, and conquer indigenous people through mass slaughter for possession of the land they've inhabited for thousands of years?

 Fundies ... PFEH!! !

I'd vote for her if she was running for some manner of fast food burger and deep fried dough regulatory committee. She looks like she has experience in the area...

It sounds like the source of this story was something said by an uber-conservative dickhead. It's hardly the first time.

This is stupid and very offensive. But I can't but laugh at these crazies for some reason.

GOP leaders asked her to withdraw from the primary after those comments. She unfortunately said she won't withdraw.

I am sure you're just as conscientious about pointing out media bias when someone links Fox News?

Anyway, that story was based on this story: http://www.dailyherald.com/article/2014 ... 701219738/
