When I try to sit still, I feel like there are hundreds of ants crawling all over my body. So I don't really stop moving during the day. I also suffer from persistent tics.
Does anyone else get this?
Could be many different things. You should consult both your doctor and psychologist.
Parasitosis- A mental condition. Wikipedia is too strong on its definition as a delusion or psychosis though so don't be scared by it.
Niacin sensitivity- Niacin is found in foods you commonly eat and when you get too much of it or if you're hyper sensitive to it, it will cause in your body either a flushing sensation (you turn red all over and it itches as if you had a sunburn everywhere you have skin) or it causes a sensation like something was crawling inside your skin... kind of like when your just starts to fall asleep and you feel that tingling sensation...except that sensation is much slower, lighter and feels on top of your skin.
I've felt both effects from the niacin supplements I take to help reduce cholesterol (niacin is amazing for that!). The sunburn sensation is not pleasant... imagine a bad sunburn inside your buttcheeks and under your nails aside from it being all over your body plus you turning red all over like a cooked shrimp. >< . The tingling sensation did feel as if I had insects scurrying all over me.
Hyper sensitivity in your hair follicles- When your body hair moves (slight breeze, brushes with clothing, etc) its felt ten times more than normal so you don't feel 'ooh its my body hair' but rather 'something is ON my skin!'. There are many things that can cause this so your doctor would be better informed on what it could be.
