A New 'Alex' Email Arrives

Hi all,
when a new 'Alex' email arrives, notifying you of a reply to a post you've commented on, do you go straight to your comment and re-read it and/or go to the new comment hoping/wondering if the new entry comments on something you've said? I do!
Do you think that makes me egotistical?
Do you think that's part of my Asperger's?
Do you think this is similar to thinking everyone is interested in what I'm talking about so I'll keep talking about my Special Interests?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

On one of the tree forums I'm on (including this one) I get quote notifications (in the forum, not by email).
That means I know if someone quoted me and responded to what I said.
That feature is important to me so that I do not miss a question someone might have asked me.
Or a gripe or difference of opinion they might have for that matter.
I think what you are doing just makes you naturally curious and conscientious.

I never turn on notifications because it clutters my mailbox.

I don't get annoyed by the updates.
I like them very much, it informs me of how fast the topic is progressing.
Also, when I reply to a thread it means that I want to see what happens so the email notifications are an easier way then just keeping all of these tabs open.

Honestly.. I almost *never* check back at the posts I make.

I'm more worried how people will respond to what I've said, or I'll realize I made an ass of myself somehow

But I am confused, if you are worried that people will reply to it, then why do you respond at all?

The only notifications I get are for Private Messages. I read Private Messages right away though. I'll never turn on notifications for a thread, it'd get too overwhelming in my emails. I don't like that.

I am starting to agree with you.
It is becoming overwhelming as I get around 1 a minute, I may turn it off.
