In the last couple of years, I notice that I am plain scared of catching glimpses of myself in the mirror, so much that I can comb my hair by touch. I especially would feel ashamed if I caught myself crying while in front of a mirror. Am I alone in this idiosynchrocy, or are there others who have this problem

I do not like myself which is why I often do not like looking in the mirror, though I do quite a lot because I have body issues. But I hate seeing myself crying in the mirror, it makes me angry with myself. Crying looks foolish to me.

I can look into mirrors but don't like looking at pictures of videos of myself. It's like staring at the sun.

I forgot what I looked like, that is one view. Who the hell are you! Is another. And what are you doing wearing my shirt? The image is the same, but the context has changed. Mostly it is the eyes, the same blue, with who knows what looking out.

I do have a problem with processing images. faces, they change. Voice is more consistant, so if they say hello I can usually place them. I met a woman, ran into her again, this time she was wearing heels, so I did not know her, so she stood there for a while, then she spoke, and she was mad.

I remember who I was, but I am not that person anymore. It starts over everytime I sleep. I am today.

Same me, same memories, yesterday is like a ten year old passport photo, it was me, but today is new.

I go through bouts of that. If I walk by a mirror and catch a glimpse of me, I am startled. If I'm only concentrating on my teeth or hair or putting on mascara, I can deal with it. For me, it's the same startle effect I get when I'm in my own head and someone comes over and touches me or gets right in front of me. I get frightened and I don't really register the person at all because the fear is so great. Sometimes I even get that on here if I am scrolling through posts and suddenly I see someone's picture. That freaks me out and I get the same reaction. I get the same sensation of being stared at when I didn't know I was.

I don't like looking at myself..although, i do it quite a lot...I don't feel the same inside as I look outside.

Also, I have slow weird blink. I had my vision repaired; however, I have a problem with huge pupils, they almost didn't do the surgery becuase of it. Anyway, I have a pair of computer glasses to block out the halo's casued by my pupils not reacting well to sunlight.

Does anyone else have a slow blink? Is that an aspie trait?

ZanneMarie, I get that same startle effect, both when people come up to me at work and I don't know it, or when I catch a photo of someone on a post. I feel creepy aftewards. yck

I certainly have the startle effect and if I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror I'm not expecting to be there, I get fairly creeped out. So, no, I don't like seeing myself in the mirror.

I hate looking in the mirror, because I don't like my face. I think it's one of the main reasons (although not the only one) why girls don't like me. So I avoid looking at it unless I absolutely have to, such as for shaving or combing my hair.

No. I don't think I look very attractive, but it doesn't bother me to look in the mirror.

It depends if people tell me I am ugly or not.
