Ok, well, I spent the first 13 years of my life in special programs. Didn't learn how to walk like others, how to cut along an 8 inch line, didn't learn speech and word recognition like others. Over the years, I gradually got better with socialization to the point that socially awkward doesn't even apply to me anymore. When I was growing up, I had pragmatic speech disorder. How come you never hear about someone who is autistic that actually ended up becoming socially adept? I learned, I was diagnosed two years ago. Had the late walking, ecolalia, wasn't good with eye contact..etc... I also hear you can test off that spectrum as well. I still stim and have great difficulty remembering things I need to do, as well as time management. I am the last person people suspect these days as autistic (wasn't always like that though!) The only motor skill problems I have is mostly visual-spatial. I used to have great visual spatial motor skills as a kid now I have stinky ones as an adult but decent with language.
