I don't know why, but for me, certain numbers stick out, and I always vocalize my surprise when I see them. Ever look at the clock and it's 1:11 or 12:12 or 3:33? Or how about when your number of posts equals your age? For some reason numbers like that always seem to be around, and when i see them, I can't help but say something like, "HEY! It's 3:33!" or "Look! The numbers match up! I have no idea why, it's been occuring since I was a kid. It seems like I never look at the clock except when the numbers have meaning, or are in consecutive order.

Four years ago I noticed months ahead of time that Veterans/Armistice Day of that year was gonna be 11-11-11.

When I used to cashier I would notice when total purchases I rang up would equal dates like 1926 (Dads year of birth), or 1865 (the year that the Civil War ended), or 1912 (Titantic). Silly stuff like that.

I despise numbers because of dyscalculia.

I sometimes experience the same thing, but I wouldn't necessarily say it happens all the time. I do love numerical information, though, and learning about the way stuff works using numbers. I've always been sort of a math geek, so yeah.

I also report numbers like that.
"Look, it's 1:23!"
If a clock says something like 3:33 I might just play with it by unfocusing my eyes so it looks like it says 33:33 instead of reporting it, although I might report it too.

Yay! Numbers!

Ha, I know this! :D
I really like the time 22:55 on a digital clock (it looks mirrored :D), 11:11 and 00:00 are nice too!
Other than that there are also 12:34 (eventually also with 56 seconds). I still think it is "funny" when it's 20:14 (2014 :P).

On a regular clock I really like 06:00/18:00. :)

Also, in 2 posts I have 555 posts!
Numbers of the power of two are funny as well, by that I mean 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 256 512 1024 2048 4096, etc, etc. This might have to do with my special interest though as it is adviced to work with those to stick to the grid in order to avoid nasty errors.

I do not voice this anymore as in "Hah, it's *time*!" though, bit it still makes me smile in some way, can sometimes be accompanied by a short giggle, depending on my mood. I rarely point this out in chat, although sometimes I still do, if I'm in a good mood and consider it funny enough (to fit into the conversation). On forums I sometimes just feel like pointing out "yay, 1000 posts" in an edit or just mention it at the end of a post (this also includes the aforementioned row of numbers).

EDIT: Yay for 555 posts!
(Told you. :P)

Aside from that particular year of 2011, Veterans/Armistice Day is always on 11/11. The Armistice was also signed at 11 AM on that day. As the old saying goes that my grandmother and mom always quoted, "it was on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month".

I see patterns like that all the time (isn't it wonderful) and must consciously disengage my obsession with numbers when driving to keep from spending too much time staring at license tag numbers. I go walking for exercise at nearby Emory Univ where I went to school decades ago and happened to notice that one staircase I often walked up had four sets of steps of 7, 6, 3 and 3 step groups. So I nicknamed it the 7633 staircase (pic at link below). Then I noticed that the digits added up to the number 19, which was my age when I lived in the dorm next to it. Many other things of interest in my life also added up to that number 19, which seems to hold some kind of special significance to me. I outlined this all to my NT sister one time, but she did not seem to get the point.

Yay!

Realizing there are others out there with the same quirks & issues is one of the most valuable things about these forums, imho. :thumleft:

Which is why I consider it to be usefull even if the majority of posts is just a "share your experience/quirks/issues/opinions" and not directly tackling problems - no matter what others say. ;)

One of my Aspie friends hates prime numbers. I kind of like them. They're always compound-weird colors to me. 89 is light green and pink. 23 is yellow-green. 51 is a pale orange. On the other hand 28 is black and blue and 4 is blue, 3 is red, and 6 is green.
