Is psychosis while high normal due to the effects of drugs? Or might it be signs of an unhealthy mentality?

wikipedia:
Psychosis (not to be confused with psychopathy) is a generic psychiatric term for a mental state in which thought and perception are severely impaired. Persons experiencing a psychotic episode may experience hallucinations
and it goes on to the less pleasant details...

sounds right to me

Either or Both.

I guess there are some different mechanism that are possible.

In the case of serotonin agonist drugs like LSD they effect 5-ht2a receptors. Its known
that atypical antipsychotic meds like risperdal that have a 5-ht2a antagonistic effect
can suppress both the effect of LSD and a psychotic episodes.

I know amphetamines can induce psychotic effects to in abuse cases. Not sure on the mechanism of that or the treatment.

LSD is intended to do this for a "period of time" but a few people can get permenantly stuck in this for periods of time from days(in my case ,after years of using,I had to take anti-psychotic drugs to normalize after several days of not functioning),to life. The DR who gave me the meds to come down, said that it is like playing "Russion Roullette",you never know if yours is one of the brains that gets stuck and which "trip" that may occur .It may have been him feeding me bull to stop using...but it was effective.I stopped using.

timothy leary and robert anton wilson suggested that different drugs activate different neural networks.

Yes, drugs cause psychosis. Not just that but also pyshological/psychological disoders and sexual dysfunctions.
The following select links are a brief explanation of some of the symptoms from drug abuse.

Cannabis increases risk of psychosis: http://www.nature.com/news/2004/041129/ ... 129-7.html

Now, he starts to believe pot ( marijuana ) smoking and cocaine abuse destroyed his sex life and caused anxiety, sleeping disorders and brain/nervous breakdown no more sexual ( sex ) orgasm, but it may be too late to save his sex life. But, our ViaPal-hGH-J revived his spontaneous erection again!

pot ( marijuana ) smoking and chronic over-masturbation destroyed h is 22 year old brain and parasympathetic/serotonin nervous control for frequent urination, urinary urgency, erectile dysfunction and semen production disorder (no semen, bur clear ejaculation fluid, like female ejaculation) for no more sexual ( sex ) orgasm - solution

Drug abuses (POT, LSD, MAGIC MUSHROOMS, MDMA, COCAINE, AND ALCOHOL) and over-ejaculation killed his brain, hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal and -testicular axis for no more sex and sexual ( sex ) orgasm, but penile shrinkage, impotence and premature ejaculation.

I think that I can add a little to this topic. I've been interested in neurotransmitters, receptors, and different compounds that stimulate the signaling systems in the CNS & the nervous system in the body for like a few years as of now. If I could actually find real research that showed the benefits of putting anything like that in my body then I would of known different than I do now. The only things that I hear about that which is objective about drugs are neurological symptoms, psychiatric symptoms, and the impairment of mental faculties. If that was shown to be part of life then I would know. But people seem to care about other people in this world. And if that were not true than I wouldn't be allowed to be clear-headed. But I am allowed to be this way and I don't let other people twist the meaning of things to distort reality like that...

The consequences for messing around with the chemistry, depending on what it is, can range from short-term memory impairment(maryjuana / benzodiazapenes), long-term addiction(meth / heroin / benzodiazapenes etc), to if those who are taking too much antipsychotic / "anti-histamine" medication for too long and are susceptible people to cause long-term brain damage (tardive dyskinesia / tardive dystonia).

Oh, man.. I know I'm not adding anything to the discussion, but any time RAW's name comes up, I just HAVE to say how much I love him. His books are the longest-lasting obsession I've ever had. He's my idol.
