Recently I started playing computer games again - Scrabble and others - on my nintendo DS. I had to stop and decide not to play it any more because I was always so angry.
Does anyone else find this?

Depends on why you're getting angry.

Whenever I get too frustrated, it's time to take a break.

I was winning the games, yet kept noticing that after I'd played them I was much more angry. Maybe it was because I was concentrating hard for so long.

If the game is SUPPOSED to be hard and frustrating, then I can tolerate it. But if people say that level/game is easy, I would probably get extremely frustrated if I couldn't beat it.

I used to get so mad at myself for not being able to beat my games as a kid, that I'd throw the controllers against the wall. I've become a little more restrained since, but I still tend to swear under my breath during very tense moments.

I lost count of how many controllers I've destroyed when I got mad and frustrated at a game.

Its easy to let ones self be angry at things that cant be angry back. but in that of not practicing good restraint when around others it may become easier to lose ones temper.

Emotional dysregulation is a common feature in autism, which means it's not really so much a matter of "letting yourself be angry" or "not practicing good restraint."

I used to be a bit of a controller thrower, and I did a number on this PS2 controller once when I kept dying on this one level on Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, but my skills have improved over the years, and I tend to play less rage-inducing games nowadays. Whenever I do play a game that's rage-inducing though, I usually just switch to something else. I do still sometimes get an "a-ha!" sense of accomplishment whenever I'm playing a really difficult game and I figure out a strategy (or an exploitable glitch :P) that allows me to do better or progress further.

I never experience this anger. I find video games to be very soothing and therapeutic, especially Gal Games/eroge and sim games like Harvest Moon and 999.

When I was young I was really bad at this, I'd get so frustrated at games that I'd scream and smash my controller. I got a better at not smashing things after the next gen and those controllers cost like $60 but games can still make me mad if I let them, I enjoy the challenge but not enough to get so angry that I'm pacing shaking mad shadow boxing. I usually play most games on easy mode the first time because of this.
