Lack of confidence, and friends
With me being in Junior college, its quite the culture shock upon how I don't have any close
acquaintances. At times, I try to not let it get to me because then this way of thinking will detract me
from my studies. But, I can help it. My way of communication makes it so hard to connect to others.
and because so, My confidence just sinks, and I can't get any work done which is bad because finals
is within a week. Any thoughts on the matter? is having friends even worth it? ![]()
Indeed, finding someone that is a good friend is difficult without the heartaches. I also tend to just have a hard time being happy in college
because of just not finding anyone to talk to. College shows that alot of people have alot more baggage than in high school.
I didn't have a great time in college either. I had acquaintances whom I worked on group projects with, but I can only even remember the name of one person I went to college with (about 18 years ago). Luckily, I went to college locally and still had my few friends that lived close-by as well as my wife (girlfriend at the time). It was basically go to class and go home. If my wife had a different lunch time or was busy, I'd as often as not either go sit in the car to listen to the radio while I ate, or just go home and skip the afternoon because I didn't want to deal with sitting in the busy cafeteria by myself.
I can't really offer up any advice for connecting with people there since I didn't. But the friends I had from before starting college were definitely "worth it". All I can suggest is to maybe find a group or club in or around the school that you might find some people you can connect with.
