Unoffically offically diagnosed?
So I was suppose to go to my therapist yesterday but because of an issue I went today. She gave an assessment, I think it is called RAAD, and I got 33 which put me in the autism disorder category. The assessment scored higher than if I would have taken it alone because the therapist saw traits that I didn't realize. Now she is saying that she feels strongly I have AS and I'm going to see a different therapist that is an expert in ASDs next week. But she said it would be no benefit if I sought an official diagnosis because I would get treatment either way.
So I am sort of diagnosed?

if your therapist knows what shes talking about, i would say its an unformal Diagnoses.
i had pretty much the same thing, my Psychologist knew what to look for, he worked with a bunch of Aspies and Autistic people and had a lot of studying and training so he knew how to diagnose and what to look for.
i had a test for the only other explanation to my symptoms, NVLD. but the test showed i do not have NVLD.
if say your diagnosed though.

I think it might depend on if your therapist is qualified to diagnose AS. I am kind of confused about this as well. Before I went through my last neuropsych eval I was talking to my psychopharmacologist and, long story short, she said that she was qualified to give me an official diagnosis. The reason I was getting a neuropsych eval was to get a comprehensive picture of where I am overall, and of my strengths and weaknesses, and to develop a plan for where I need to go developmentally and such.
Then earlier this year when my psychopharmacologist was filling out a script for me to travel on an airplane with my weighted vest, she wrote that I have Autism Spectrum Disorder. She explained that with the DSM V my diagnosis now is ASD and not AS. It's strange though, because my documentation says I have AS.
My therapist said that she suspected an ASD and got information and the diagnostic scale from the therapist who is an expert in ASDs. Now I hope that seeing the therapist who is an expert will clear things up further.
