beat me to it! apparently in the UK the fear of autism resulting from Wakefield's fraudulent paper actually lead to 15% of British parents not vaccinating their children. This contributed to the deaths of a number of children from measles who would otherwise be alive today.

If you have the MTHFR gene mutation, mercury and other toxins + metals can contribute and make matters worse.

The problem with publishing yet another article saying there is no link between autism and vaccination is that all the general public will hear and remember is "blah, blah, autism, blah, blah, vaccinations" which will reinforce the misconception and further put parents off getting their kids vaccinated. This is kinda like the "Streisand Effect". The more something is denied, the more people will think there is a link or a cover up or simply not remember the word "NOT" in the autism/vaccination linked equation.

There is a link between autism and vacinnes. They both happen when you are young. That's about it though! lol

Kay...I'm sure its a non issue since other foods contain mercury in higher concentrations.

I have never thought it is a cause. However I do think that it is potentially risky for asd infants, who often have some innate immune dysfunction - and vaccines function by posing a challenge - to an already challenged immune system in ASD infants. No-one seems to have investigated this aspect - more's the pity.

So I do think it may make matters worse for ASD infants. And those effects may last a long time, given how early these severe challengers to the immune system are given.

It seems with each study disproving it, the idea gains in popularity. The recent CDC "1 in 68" report increased the "vaccines did it" idea a lot. For most autism related articles and youtube videos the comments sections are full of these theories now. We are paying the price for Watergate, Vietnam, Iran Contra, Iraq no WMD's, post 9/11 spying etc. Thinking the government actually did something that used to be the province of the most far fetched Hollywood conspiracy theory movies is not insane, but logical now. It is not a matter of if but when massive pandemics for diseases we thought we eradicated will happen.

I've always believed the MMR vaccination actually caused my ASD, for three reasons:-

1. Nobody else in my family seem to have ASD (don't know about relatives I have never met but as far as I know my family are practically all NTs)
2. There wasn't any birth complications when I was born; I wasn't born premature (I was actually born 4 days later than my due date), my mum did not smoke or drink during pregnancy, my birth was a natural birth, and I didn't have any health conditions when I was born
3. My mum kept a diary when I was a baby and a toddler, so that she could record stuff in it (mostly for memories), and she wrote that the day I had my MMR vaccination (at about a year old I guess) my personality had changed quite noticeably, and it is a mother's intuition to know their own child's personality, no matter how complex it is to explain. I was just like any other baby, and I still was like any other baby after the vaccination, but I went from being quite a placid baby to a grizzly baby quite suddenly after the vaccination. Being a grizzly baby does not have anything to do with Autism itself but the way I changed on the day I had the vaccination was what gets me wondering.

I think I would rather have not had the vaccination and died of measles, than to live a life being an outcast with an afflicting disorder. But obviously my mum wouldn't have wanted me to die. But anyway, if anybody can explain how the 3 points above would not be to do with the vaccination, then I might be more reassured.

If it's any consolation, regardless of what was observed, it is basically impossible for MMR to have given you autism.

Everyone knows vaccines don't cause autism....clearly autism occurs when the expecting mother eats fish, so clearly fish should be avoided when pregnant.

That is supposed to be a joke more or less just not sure anyone will get it or if its even funny.
