So my Mom has made it apparent that she finds me to be frightening and disruptive. Fair enough. I have the same problem with myself.

So I found this place that I think I can afford. My friend and I are goingg to view it tomorrow. I am a bit excited as I would like to have my own place.

The member from 2011 thanks the member from Utah. :D

It is a big step for me as in the past living on my own has been a total suicidal destructive mess. Seriously. So I'm hoping not to repeat that.

But this time I am diagnosed and treated and have support. This could make a huge difference.to things for me.

Thanks all! ... going to see it soon. Part of me hopes I don't like it as I absolutely hate moving! It's disruptive and disorienting. I will have to downsize.

*phone rings -stop*

Okay, as I am writing this the phone rings and it is the landlord. He says he has to cancel the viewing because he wants to rent to someone who works full time. (I had previously emailed him that I recieve ODSP. )

I'm a little miffed as I can afford the rent with my benefit payment!

It's exciting and daunting. I've been there. When I was cheated on I had to find my own place. First time ever living alone. For the first few days it felt lonely and empty. I missed the company. But once I got settled I enjoyed my own space.

I find living alone I'm actually less depressed because there's less to worry about, you can be your own person. And there's nobody to cause problems for you.

Good luck :) You'll be fine. If you got a good few close friends, even better!

Ah missed this post.

There's a similar problem in the UK. A lot of landlords will not accept benefits, but saying that many do. I am currently receiving benefits for housing. I receive £450 which pays for a 2 bedroom house - I have to put £135 towards it myself though because rent is £585.

Keep looking. Put some ads on Craigslist (I assume you're in US/CA?). That's what I did (except I used Gumtree in the UK).
