I don't like the puzzle piece (mostly because Autism Speaks has it already and it's likely copyrighted/trademarked).

I was thinking of a clever marketing campaign. Develop a label that can be printed out, cut and taped onto jars like peanut butter and jellies/jams.

The message would be "Spread Autism Awareness and Acceptance."

The logo should be along that message. Not just about autism, but about it being embraced into society.

I thought of a circle (or better illustrated, a clear sphere) with a solitary person (stick figure) in the middle with many stick figures on the outside...illustrating isolation from society.

Or a similar idea of the above except someone from the outside helping the figure inside the sphere exit into the larger group.

Thoughts?

Eh I will have to think on it

I do like the puzzle pieces though, I really love them! Autism speaks aphas I one single blue piece, which I hate it is extremely one sided just like them!!

The puzzle piece ribbon which was designed for autism was created by the autism society of America. I love it because it has all diffrent pieces and colors :)

I wil go into more detail later bu it always bothers me when people hate the puzzles then sigh autism speaks.

I also don't subscribe to the "I am missing pieces," theory of them I interpret it as this world really is puzzling to me. Also the other thing I say autistics are missing are come from ieces missing in the comunity

Acceptance from others

Understanding

Supports and

Proper services

How about a light bulb with little lines coming out of it? The Edison-style incandescent bulb is most recognizable, but the spiral CFL will work too. (Scratch that! The CFL light is horrible. The less we promote that bulb, the better.) Perhaps even a light bulb with a puzzle piece inside.

Many famous scientists and artists were aspies or autistics. A light bulb represents a shining light of intelligence and beauty in a dark sea of ignorance and pop culture that our society is de-evolving into. It's a nice way to send a message that by curing autism (and by extension, Asperger's), you will effectively kill off the future Albert Einstein or Vincent Van Gogh. So instead of curing autism, we need to make our society more hospitable to it, with things like strict anti-bullying laws, quieter household machines, softer lighting, etc. Many NTs will derive a second-hand benefits from those things, so it's in their interests too.

Something alien otherworldly foreign and possibly extraterrestrial in origin would be appropriate. That or maybe a figure/upward tilted head with a stylised halo. The implication there would be that ASD's are positive identifiers.Seems alittle hackneyed as an image though

I like that idea the best.

Simple geometric shapes cannot be copyrighted, so generic puzzle pieces are fine to duplicate, however I agree, it's not something that's obvious to those that aren't familiar with autism, and having learned all I have about Autism Speaks, I do not care to support them either.

Just yesterday, I wore Thinkgeek's "Neurodiversity" Shirt that I got a few months ago (v2.0, although they're now on v3.0). They've tried a few variations of this design, all involving the brain, but so far I haven't found a true "hit" yet. Maybe a multi-color tye-dye brain or something? Not sure. Here's the one I have:
Image
Basically a side-profile of the brain with the Fibonacci sequence spiral on top of it. Although when I wore it, I had a lady looking at it and asking me about it, and she had major trouble understanding it.

Tell you what though, I'm definitely interested in this thread, particularly for the Neurodiversity Church I'm starting. Maybe I could start selling the shirts, and 100% of the proceeds could go to a fund for autism-related causes? Price would be flexible enough that you can choose from the lowest amount possible (i.e. cost to produce), or anything upwards of that, which would go into the aforementioned fund.

I definitely think it should be created by someone on the spectrum though, no question about that. NT's can't seem to advertise it well enough

I prefer an illuminated infinity symbol. Barring that, the light bulb idea works. Forget puzzle pieces.
