This happens to be an ADHD question.

My husband speaks in a certain way I've on heard one other person speak. Basically if you ask him a question for example, instead of answering it directly, he tries to tell a story to answer it, and when he tells that story he goes off-tangent and ends up talking about something else entirely. He might never answer the question. The only other person I've seen speak like that was diagnosed with ADHD. Is this an ADHD quality, or does my husband have something else or is that just the way he talks?

Well does he have a DX of anything ? I would be careful of armchair diagnosis, there are a lot of errors both of fact and morals which you can fall into,

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

It is an ADHD thing, but it can also be a part of other things. I would not be surprised if it was also just something that people can have -- with or without a diagnosable disorder. I think the jargon-y terms for it are "tangential/circumscribed speech"

I don't think it's specifically an ADHD trait. It's probably more of a personality thing.

Sometimes I can go off on tangents and lose track of what I intended to say. But if someone asks me a direct question I tend to give a very direct answer.
