For a long time I believed I had a sixth sense.

I thought I had a sixth sense that allowed me to read people. Within the first minute of meeting someone I can generally tell the sort of person they are. But, I've learnt from self analysis that this isn't a sixth sense. This is me categorising people for my own benefit. They're probably nothing like the way I've summed them up in my head, but I use this cue as a way to decided whether I like the person or not. Or to figure out what the person is about.

Can I tell how they are really feeling? No. I've been proved wrong on this numerous occasions.

I can look at someone, by the way they dress, their accent, their tone of voice, their appearance, and place them into a category. Is this a true representation of that person though? Of course not.

I guess this is my interpretation of "reading people". NT's can actually read people, probably not within the first minute like I believe I can at times, but they hit the mark much closer than I do. I get it totally wrong. I've made enemies this way in the past too.

Am I alone here?

I was the exact opposite, I approached every person as basically a blank slate and only judged them by how they treated me. I would also ignore warnings I had received about them from others, I mean if Hitler was nice and pleasant to me I didn't have a problem with him.

Did some people live up to their reputation? Yep, but also many were very different.

The ability to detect danger or problems would be considered a "sixth sense" to me. For instance, if people start mouthing off at a function I know to move away.

I wonder if that 6th sense would be intuition.
