Hi I haven't posted here in quite some time as my parents said I needed a break from WP it was beginning to become one of my obsessions (sigh) but I'm back and have some questions. Does anyone here frequently talk to themselves I do it most often when playing video games eg. We walk left to get these coins / we need to clear this level etc. AS or my weirdness???

I used to a lot, especially when I was in middle school (ten years ago). Now, I mostly do it when I need to talk myself through something... When I need to talk specific steps in order to not completely mess something up

I do this when I need to psyche myself up to accomplish something.

I talk to myself all the time, but usually only when I'm alone. Sometimes, I do it in front if other people, usually when I'm trying to figure sonething out, and whenever they ask about it I just say I'm thinking out loud. I try not to do it in front of other people, as I've been told that it's "weird", but when I'm by myself, I can go on whole monologues.

Yeah, I talk to myself quite often, but not usually outloud. Sometimes I will though if no one is at the house.

...However INSIDE my head is a different story. It might sound kinda strange but I have conversations with my soul several times a day ;)

Basically all I mean by this is my head (what I think logically) will converse with my soul (My emotions and heart) it really is as if they are two different entities almost.
I enjoy it actually, sometimes they get pretty long and in depth...infact I just had one last friday while taking a 3 hour drive to my grandfathers house with my dad for 4th of July celebrations.
The whole ride i acted like I was asleep, but in reality I was talking to myself the whole ride up there.

I dont find anything wierd about it personally, some cultures call it "meditation".

This is something I do all the time.

Everyone does it, and it's completely normal. It helps organise thoughts. There have been studies on it.

I talk to myself when I'm alone. That's my way of solving my own problems. I don't have a counselor or psychiatrist and my parents aren't very supportive, so I need to support my emotional self by talking to myself. I find it very soothing to be my own listener.

I don't talk to myself so much as I talk to my imaginary friend. He used to have a form I could see when I was younger, but these days he's more of a disembodied voice. I talk to him all the time when I'm alone, and occasionally out in public, such as when I'm on the bus or looking for something in a shop, but I try not to do it too often because I know people will think I'm weird. In school, I talk myself (silently) through test questions too, especially maths; it enables me to understand them better.

I sometimes talk to myself in foreign languages when nobody is around. I haven't done so lately because my neighbors can hear me through the walls. :?

yeah. for the most part i'm just annotating everyday thing that happen in my everyday life, short words, more often phrases like "what is that, there", "what am i doing". when i get rather upset for any reason, i ditch english entirely and repeat foreign or made up words out loud. recently i took a walk in public when i was upset, repeating čtvrtsmr?ť to myself...i got weird looks of course.

inside my head is rather different. to put it simply i can have, i guess "arguments" between my heart and brain, in other words heated debates between my emotional side and my logical side, when deciding what to do.

I always talk to myself. Sometimes in third person too (ie Shannon needs to clean her desk, If Shannon doesn't straighten her bed she'll get annoyed about it later). I also talk to my dogs a lot but I think almost every dog owner does that.

So your thoughts are never word-based?!?!?

How would you describe your thoughts?
