I'm not much of a cook myself, although my slow cooked short ribs are pretty tasty.

Anybody else have a favorite dish they're proud of?

Risotto. I haven't tried anything more difficult yet... I first made a batch after a ski day, didn't feel my arms for the next 2!

I like to cook most everyday stuff, but find that it can get expensive as I like using fresh vegetables and what not. I really like to cook pasta.... but does not have to be anything fancy

Cooking is one of my special interests. Im working on perfecting curries. Currently I use:

Cumin Seeds
Paprika
Cinnamon
Garam Masala
Cardamom (3 whole pods cracked slightly)
Turmeric
White Pepper
Onions
Ginger
Garlic
Honey
Salt
Celery
Carrots
Olive Oil
Basmati Rice
Rose Water

Sounds like a bit much but its deeelicious and I only use a little of each spice. I pretty much eat this every night :D

The idea is to throw the garlic rose water turmeric and honey in with the rice and then steam the vegetables with a little onion ginger a touch of garlic. Then fry them with all the spices and extras mentioned. You can also add yoghurt to thicken the sauce.

You can even fry the rice with all that which ive never tried but may do tonight!! !!

Living on my own and only cooking for myself can at times be depressing, but it's better than not cooking and eating ready made junk. Apart form the loneliness and lack of compliments from others (and complaints) I enjoy it. I will be making a Lamb Curry tomorrow, always hit and miss with me, I am very random with curries and put in what feels right at the time of cooking rather than follow a recipe as such.

Throwing a burrito in the oven is "cooking" for me.

I'm too lazy to even turn it over halfway through baking.

I do a great T-bone and fillet steak. Not much technique involved - just counting the minutes of cooking - but it certainly tastes good!

Me. Trying to cook paleo food ATM, or rather, compose salads. They're a bit more complex if they include stuff like cauliflower rice and you have to juice the lemons yourself, for example. I have to juice the lemons because the stuff in bottles have preservatives which give me a rash. :?

All the washing-up to be done afterwards! Still, homemade (if the recipe is good) beats store-bought any day.

I like mixing spices and herbs to make additive free versions of dishes. I've nice base recipes for tomato, curry, veg and a few sauces. I use tin foil, parchment paper, kitchen tissue, and still the sink is piled high.

Does anyone have a recipe for instant homemade noodles? I would've thought it would have to be a very fine powder, so some herbs and/or spices would have to be ground finely. It's just that the main brand noodles are full of rubbish. I mean, there's so many spice mixes around. I want to make advieh tomorrow. I've got dried rose petals that I'm going to grind up.

I like finding recipes online and having my mom help me make them. Unfortunately, my own cooking skills are pretty much limited to the microwave because I'm kind of scared of the stove. We recently made buffalo cauliflower, which was surprisingly really good.
