Really Vivid Memorable Dreams
Hey guys and girls,
I've recently started having some really vivid dreams. They're more nightmares, because there's nothing positive about them. They're so vivid that I remember every dream.
It's odd. I will fall asleep but it's like I am not completely asleep. I can hear things around me, and sort of know that I am asleep and awake. Sometimes I will dream I am in bed, and I will get up in my dream, but it feels like it's real life. It will feel real. Or sometimes if my girlfriend has the TV on I can hear it word for word in my sleep state, and those characters from the TV are in my dream speaking as they are on TV.
It's a very odd sensation, and kinda scary. I will wake up feeling like I haven't slept, which makes me think I am stuck in the REM stage of sleep for most of the time.
I will wake up multiple times, if the dreams are scary they will leave a lasting impression the entire night and I will sometimes get worried to sleep. Last night I dreamt I couldn't breath, so I ran upstairs in my dream to my girlfriend and told her to call an ambulance. She pushed me in the bath and said "Let me stroke your sexy chest". I thought it was real! I woke up and I actually couldn't breath. Sort of an anxiety attack in a dream.
I've also had it where I will be holding object in my dream, like a book, or a comb, and I will be holding the imaginary object in real life. Except I am asleep. I dreamt last night I was holding a plastic hair clip, and I woke up and I was actually mimic the actions of the clip in my hand.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I have these on and off, it appears that recently we've had to sleep on the sofa because our bedroom is being decorated, so I think me being unsettled is making it worse.
I really wish I couldn't remember my dreams because they play on my mind all day. They are very disturbing.
Dreams are good in that they clear your mind of subconscious garbage cluttering up your head.
I often sleep with the tv on a timer to go off and tv dialogue does sometimes become part of my dreams.
I go through phases of remembering some or not when I wake up. Medication can alter your usual depth of relaxing sleep so if these unpleasant experiences at night begin to really take over your daytime with thoughts - see your doctor.

I dream vividly pretty much every single night. Often, they're anxiety dreams where I'm about to get something really good (winning the lottery etc) but it gets taken away from me. It sounds like what you're experiencing is related to some kind of deep rooted anxiety you have. You should talk to a therapist about it and they might help you work out why it is you're having these dreams

My doctor is aware of my sleep issues. It's taken them over 12 months to get a sleep study sorted, and recentlyI've changed doctors so I don't know if they will chase up the referral.
The first time I ever noticed anything like this was about 7 years ago when I was working pretty heavily and was only getting 2 hours sleep a night. One day I slept and had this horrific night terror. I can remember it to this day. And now whenever I am overly tiered, or I got to sleep when I'm anxious or having an anxiety attack you can pretty much guarantee I'll have issues.
Last night I watched this video of these Russian guys climbing tall buildings and doing stupid stuff with no ropes. Really disturbed me so I have a feeling this has something to do with it.
My home treatment team visited today and I told her about it. She said discuss it when the doctor visits on Tuesday.
How about this one?
Some room. A face is staring at me. Walls? Red. Floor? Red.
What the, now I'm in my Year 6 class. Oh it's [NAME OF GIRL IN FORM] and [NAME OF GIRL IN FORM]... What the, are they carrying... Iron tables? And on them... [NAME OF BOY IN YEAR] and [NAME OF BOY IN FORM]..?
"It's him." Says one of the girls. Instantly, I run around my primary school playground; locking all the entrances. He can't get in...---
And then I'm back there... He's there as well.

I've had quite a few dreams like that. The problem is that my most vivid dreams are usually my most realistic, so sometimes I'll wake up thinking that the dream actually happened. As an example, recently I had a dream that I overslept my alarm and ended up missing an extremely important meeting at work, and was having to deal with all sorts of fallout and reprimands because of it. I woke up in a cold sweat thinking that it actually happened and that my job was in jeopardy, it took me 15 minutes to calm down and realize it was just a dream. I find that I have these dreams a lot more when I am stressed out or worrying about something.
