What is your favorite book about autism or a disability?

Right now mine is is or of my mind and also rules. Don't have who wrote those with me also though the eves of aliens and By Janine o Neil but I haven't a read that in a long time.

Haven't really read any.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? has John Isidore. He lives alone in an abandoned apartment and is mentally ret*d (he works for a pet store); the Replicants take advantage of him when he tries to befriend them (make fun of and all that), and even when looking out for them from the authorities.

Ironically, he's the most altruistic, benevolent and empathetic individual in the book (the book is pretty much about empathy), and he's more switched on than the other characters assume--and he's treated less than human by society due to his disabilities (which were man-made from war, ironically).

The books by Temple Grandin. I like their depth.

In the first place, Tony Attwoods "A complete guide to Aspergers Syndrome", but it is vey much about boys, so I also like a danish book with a number of life stories of asperger women of varying age.
Nice to read something recognizable :-)

Out of My Mind? I love that book. I also like Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine and Anything But Typical by Nora Raleigh Baskin.

With the Light.

it's actually a manga. and there are 8 books in the series. Sadly the last two, especially the 8th book, isn't properly finished, because the author died before they could be completed. however, it was also turned into a Japanese Drama series. Hikari To Tomo Ni. and can be found on Youtube. both the book and the series were done really well. and by the 5th book, they don't just cover autism, but other disabilities as well.

I highly recommend it...and believe it should be a staple in EVERY residence and business place.

I haven't read mockingbird Yet but I have read anything but typical and I like it

That's the one about a boy you goes to school and goes to his favorite website and then goes to a convention or something and he has an aide in school right?
