I don't know what happened but just the last 2-3 days it is worse. Every little sound is painful. I can't even describe how it feels it just feels like it is twisting something around in my brain and making me sick.

I can't stay on the computer long because the mouse clicks and keys clicking are driving me crazy. I can't even watch a movie because the sounds of the people talking hurts my ears.

What would make it get worse all of a sudden? is this a sign I'm going to have some kind of horrible meltdown soon because I kind of feel that way.

Can you turn off the volume off of your computer?

That would get rid of the noisy mouse clicks.

Are you sure it's not something anxiety related making the noises louder than they really are?

That would be my guess. See if relaxation exercises and stress release helps. In the summer it gets worse for me to because there are a lot more noises outside and even noises that I am not always fully aware of. And they pile up and make me much more sensitive to the point where every little thing bothers me.

Could there possibly be something physically wrong with your ears? An ear infection perhaps? Allergies? Maybe you might have shoved a q-tip in a bit too far?

If not, I'm going to go with stress.

I have a sinus headache and both ears feel stopped up but I have that pretty much all the time.

I had my period over the weekend. It was really draining and left me feeling lightheaded. That might have set it off.

Are you serious or just trying to kid around?

Actually that could help. Depending on what mouse you have it's definitely worth a try. But if it's the spring mechanism in the mouse that is bothering you than the computer volume won't affect it.

I know that when I get my period it drains and exhausts me and I become much more sensitive to everything so it is very likely that that is having an effect on you especially if it was particularly heavy or if you had a lot of contractions. You could also be dehydrated and that can affect your sensitivity levels also.

Mouse click sounds come from the mouse, not the speakers. Turning down the volume has absolutely no effect whatsoever on the sound of a mouse click.

Yeah because it's the spring mechanism in the button you press. But if you have an all in one system where the mouse is in the screen and you have a touch screen than turning the volume or turning off the clicks will work. But I guess if you have a touch screen most people don't think of the mouse mechanism as an integrated part of the screen, they just think of the finger pad or stylus recognition, so you would not have said "mouse" you would have just said screen clicks or something like that. So you are right, the computer volume would not affect it one way or the other.

You're probably under stress for some reason. Processing noise takes brain power, and if your brain's being forced to work on something else, or if it's not doing as well as it normally would be, then you have less energy left over for dealing with noise.

Physical stress and emotional stress can both cause this. You're coming down with a cold, or it's been uncomfortably hot, or you're not eating an adequate amount and quality of food--that's physical stress; you can't deal with as much as normal. If you're female, your period will do it too. Cognitive stress--having to deal with a lot of changes; having had to spend a lot of effort to learn something new.

Whatever's going on, try taking a break. Spend some time alone, doing something low-key. Get a good night's sleep and eat three square meals a day. If sunshine and fresh air relax you, go outside; if exercise relaxes you, get some physical activity (but not too strenuous, because physical exhaustion would cause overload too--try going for a walk).

I think this happens to everybody, NT and autistic; it's just that autistics have to work at nearly full capacity just to cope with everyday life, and when things get stressful, it's much more obvious.

Did I say something wrong or offensive? Sorry if I did. I did not mean to. I was just trying to understand and possibly help.

You also might have serotonin deficiency, which enhances anxiety/depression. Some exercise should help!

do you have a inner(middle) ear infection? are things clear and draining alright up in your ears? sounds odd but when i get an ear infection, things start becoming more painful, and a lot of clicking sounds that come from certain pitches and makes my ear click and/or pop. i have sensitivity to certain things anyways, but it gets worse when i have an ear infection (or sinus infection as the both generally are inseperatible in my system). the only time it doesnt, is when my ear drum is busting again, which makes everything sound like im underwater, and is painful in a different kind of pain(like the kind where you just want to get a razor sharp ice cream scooper and dig your ear out to get rid of the pain and that kind of pain).

I must have a really bad sinus infection right now though because my head is getting so stopped up I can feel my pulse inside my sinus cavity. And my ears are popping like crazy. I have chronic low grade ear/sinus infections all the time so I really didn't think that was what is causing this.
