Family Members and Autistic Traits
Is it common for families who have an autistic relative to have some autistic traits? I may just be over thinking this, but my dad was extremely obsessed with some things, had some sensory sensitivities, probably has an EQ as low as me, would often stim, appear to be echolaliac, and mimicked. My mom was completely asocial as a kid (but has since grown out of it and is now a social butterfly, whatever that means). My sister has sensory sensitives, is not very social (but can be when she wants to be), and has a special interest.
This are probably all just normal things that I'm completely over thinking about because I had about 2 hours of sleep.

There is research showing genetic connections to autism and, since it's a "spectrum" disorder, of course we all exhibit different behaviors.
Everyone has something that can be related to autism. It doesn't mean they have it but it is possible. I think a lot of people have it but just don't want to hear about it. They don't want the label or they just don't have a problem with it. Some people can thrive in life even with having autistic traits.
Edit: There are more then 5 kids in my family who suffer from autism and some adults I can guarantee that they have it. It is hereditary I believe.
I have 3 sisters who all have some autistic traits.
The oldest seems to have a lot of trouble with empathy, interpersonal relationships, and executive functioning.
The middle has extreme executive functioning deficiencies and trouble with interpersonal relationships, and a variety of other comorbidities.
The youngest is dyslexic (and maybe dysgraphic) and seems to be sensory insensitive (she screams when talks, her music has to be on the highest volume setting) and also seems to be unable to empathize.
My mother has a history of trouble with interpersonal relationships, but have grown to be pretty social. However, she is infamous for her poor executive functioning.
I took a history from my grandmother and I believe her to have full blown ASD (she has trouble with interpersonal relationships, intense interests, rigid rituals, and stims).
My sister inherited a similar personality and decision making choices, but my brother has similar "obsession phases" as I do and is as impulsive as I am.
I highly suspect that my siblings share bits of my comorbidities too. My sister has anxiety too and my brother has tics as well.
