Sometimes when I'm reading the books I have bought about Aspergers I think to myself about how I'm reading these books because I feel alienated from society. Even though I look normal and people want to be my friend. I still can't "go with the flow" of this stagnant place. I read these books so that I have something to trully relate to. When I read the advice I am so thankful for it but I also end up wishing that I lived in a world/society where I didn't have to learn how to lie and to act to get through the days. I still wish I could just be myself. No matter how shy or manic I end up appearing to people.

Hey, we're working on it. In the end, once the autism rights movement gets its way, this world will be a place where people are allowed to be "weird" or "shy" or whatever you like, so long as they're not hurting anybody. In time, it'll be as bad to make fun of an autistic person as it is now to use the n-word for a black guy.

You sound a little bit contradictory to me. Do you want to be around people or do you just want to isolate yourself at home and read books on Aspergers? I assure you, you live on planet earth with other earth men and women. Go out there and mix with other people. Normal people tend to be very forgiving of people who are a little different, so why don't you just go with the flow and mix with as many people as you can and don't worry about what people may think. If you can, try to control the situations you may meet other people. Avoid crowded rooms if possible. Go to quiet restaurants and cafe's to meet and talk to people and avoid party situations which are outside your control. Theatres are a good place to meet and get to know people without having to participate in the entertainment. Be careful of who you meet because you may not be able to pick up on signals that the person may not be good for you. Good luck with your journey out into the world.
