I have an amazing ability to remember tv episodes and I recalled there were some disturbing episodes of different strokes but I didn't remember how many and how bad they were till I saw this list.

Good God how could this not damage any kids?

Oh the list forgot to mention one thing.

That the attempted rape scene?

It was filmed in a camera dark room so the only light came from red bulbs with the result being the whole room and every one in it look like they've been painted in blood.

I don't think any of the 80's sitcom shows had a deep impact on me however it was some of the drug-free psa's that aired during primetime or during the saturday morning cartoons that scared like the living 5#1T out of me.

That was one of my favourite shows growing up. There were a few episodes that creep-ed me out, like the kidnapping one. All and all, it was a pretty good show.

I remember watching Diff'rent Strokes when it was on.

I did notice one incorrect fact in that article. Gordon Jump didn't play the Maytag repairman until about 1989 or 1990, but he was already well-known as the station manager on WKRP in Cincinnati.

Here are some interesting facts about the cast of the show:

Dana Plato (who played Kimberly) was in the video game "Night Trap" for the Sega CD. This was the game that sparked the debate over violent video games.

The bicycle shop episode was based on Shavar Ross's (played Dudley) real-life experiences with sexual abuse.

The remaining cast members are Todd Bridges (Willis), Charlotte Rae (Mrs. Garrett), Mary Jo Catlett (Pearl), Danny Cooksey (Sam), and Mary Ann Mobley (Maggie).

I watched this show a lot when I was a kid, but I don't remember much about it. My dad didn't like it and always said he didn't like for me to watch it. Even years after it was off the air he would still bring that up. I don't know why he didn't just stop me from watching it if he thought it was that bad.

I don't watch TV anymore. I've made a point of rewatching a lot of TV shows and movies that I saw when I was a kid to see what kind of influence it might have had on me or how it might have brainwashed me. This show is on my list, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
