the ones (Icons) that are on the side of the threads listed in a given forum
and the ones (Avatars) that are on every post.

Is there a way for me to NOT see the movement (does this make sense)

I can't stand seeing the flashing/moving in the icons/avatars.

Is there a setting on this website (or my computer) for this???

Did I ask this question in a way that can be understood?

You should disable the playing of animated GIFs. Check if your web browser has a built-in option for disabling them, or search for a browser extension for it.

I don't think that it is
Even now when I add this msg, there are a bunch of emoticons 'moving' on the left side of the screen

they aren't gifs (I don't think)

I have Chrome, the only thing that isn't disabled (or click to play) is images
All video, plugins, etc are not set to GO automatically

They are GIFs. GIF is an image file format that can also contain small animations; since it is technically handled like an image, disabling video/plugins doesn't disable it.

I've found that animation can't really be disabled in Chrome even with extensions. In Firefox you can disable them.

Alternatively, you can get an ad blocker extension, and disable these images (including the static ones unfortunately) by blocking them as if they were ads:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules/Foru ... /avatars/*
http://cdn.wrongplanet.net/modules/Foru ... r/images/*
Or you can disable images entirely when browsing wp.
