Here is a link to the article about this in The Independent.

Everything the author says seems to me to apply to many if not most inhabitants of WP.

There are many times when I seem extroverted-- but I think of myself as an introvert.

Me too. I was mute for 7 years and it took years of practice to learn how to act otherwise.

In highschool, the school brought everyone out of their classes to the auditorium for a workshop on "Success in Job Interviews."
The speaker talked mostly about how extrovertedness was the key to success and that all employers look for it as an essential trait. They showed pictures of pairs of people. Each pair would have one that would be an extrovert and the other an introvert. And we were supposed to pick the one most capable for the job by their appearance. It isn't hard to guess which one inevitable were most "capable."

I haven't seen much disadvantage to not socializing much. Other than being even more alone than I'd like to be, but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

I don't see why employers want extroverted people. Do they want people to chit-chat instead of doing their jobs?

I can pass for an extrovert sometimes when I have too, but I'm really an introvert. Most content when I'm doing my own thing or one-on-one with someone in a low stress environment.

I can entertain a crowd with my above average intelligence, although after some time it annoys those around me. I'm extremely shy but I'm certainly not averse to confrontation though. Unlike most humans within the autistic spectrum; I've learned long ago not to take garbage from others. I don't tolerate bullying or discriminating against anyone. No matter their mental capability, character, color, or conduct. Everyone can change for the better if you give them some time to reflect. You can change the connections in your brain that dictate your personally traits and intellect if you want to. You only have to try. I'm a socially awkward introvert and I'm proud.
