I started seeing a new therapist on Monday for cognitive behavioural therapy to address my chronic anxiety, and to improve upon my social skills. CBT is a proven therapy for anxiety, but I don't really know how it works on the development of interpersonal skills. Have any of you ever had it for that sort of thing? What was it like?
Yes! I had almost eight months of CBT and most of it was to help me with my interpersonal skills. I give it two thumbs up. Got me to change some of my maladaptive reactions to situations as well as take a more thinking approach on how to react - as well as helping me to look at many social situations from a different angle, giving me better insight.
It worked well for me - let us know how you find it StarTrekker. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions on CBT.
